SRP Studios Founder, Derrick Michaud
Derrick Michaud, originally from the state of Maine, is a highly accomplished professional musician and bass player. His passion for music led him to make the pivotal decision to move to Nashville in 2005, where he embarked on a journey to pursue his musical aspirations.
For six years, Derrick toured extensively, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience in the music industry. However, seeking a change of scenery and new opportunities, he relocated to North Mississippi, specifically Memphis, to continue his musical journey. In this vibrant region, Derrick immersed himself in the local music scene, collaborating with talented musicians and contributing his bass-playing expertise.
In 2018, Derrick's passion for audio editing led him to explore new avenues. He recognized the growing demand for podcast editing services and began offering his expertise as a side hustle to supplement his income. As his client base steadily expanded, Derrick established his limited liability company (LLC), Shelby Row Productions, in June 2019.
2021 marked another significant milestone in Derrick's life as he moved to Hernando, Mississippi. Inspired by his love for community engagement, he initiated a community-based podcast named "The Real Hernando." This podcast spotlights Hernando's vibrant community organizations and influential leaders, fostering a sense of connection and appreciation among residents.
As Derrick's business flourished locally, he opened a full production studio in downtown Hernando in 2023. This studio serves as the headquarters for his various podcast projects, allowing him to deliver high-quality content to his growing audience. In addition to "The Real Hernando," he launched another podcast titled "The Rhythm Section Pod," dedicated to showcasing the exceptional musicians in the Greater Memphis and North Mississippi region.
In January 2023, Derrick's commitment to serving his community led him to a new role on the Hernando Main Street Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Within six months, he was elected as the Promotion Committee Chair; leveraging his studio and production skills, Derrick created a captivating series called "Chamber Happenings." This series highlights the chamber and its members, serving as a powerful promotional tool for the local business community.
To further help spotlight Hernando, MS, Derrick developed a platform called "Community Currents." This podcast series provides a platform for the timely promotion of specific community events, amplifying their visibility and impact within the city.
Passionate about supporting small businesses and entrepreneurship, Derrick initiated the "Caffey & Commerce" podcast. This unique platform allowed businesses to sponsor individual episodes and share their stories, showcasing their backgrounds and the value they bring to the community.
